Tennessee golfer Jake Hall shoots 7-under for the 54 hole tournament and wins his first career college tournament title at the All-American Intercollegiate outside of Houston.

“The key for me getting it done this week was putting all my energy into the process of each shot,” Hall said. “Not wasting any mental energy on shots in the past and putting all my focus towards the next shot. Moving forward it definitely gives me some confidence knowing that I can be in the mix and win.”

Hall has played some of his best golf this spring and continues to have lots of confidence coming out of the third spring tournament of 2023. He shot rounds of 68-69 and a final round 72 to win by one shot.

“First college win in some tough conditions on a tough golf course,” Brennan Webb said. “For the last four years, Jake has put his head down and come to work everyday, handled himself with maturity and class, and turned into one of the best leaders I know. His presence on this very young team has been immeasurable and to see him win today makes me a very proud coach.”

Tennessee was right back entering the day and made a run thanks to a pair of 69s by Bryce Lewis and Caleb Surratt. Surratt ended up tied for 6th while Lewis finished 12 overall for the tournament.

This tournament proves as a good momentum builder for Brennan Webb and his team after a lackluster performance in Cabo in their last outing.

Playing as individuals in an individual tournament, Laurent Desmarchais and Josh Hill finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at five and six under par for the three round tournament.

Volquest caught up with Webb and Hall after the round to talk about the growth this week in the Lonestar state.
