JUCO triple crown winner Tyler Myatt commits to Tennessee

Tennessee baseball picked up another commitment from the junior college ranks on Tuesday as Walters State slugger Tyler Myatt made his pledge known on social media.
The redshirt freshman not only led Walters State in average (.484), home runs (31) and runs batted in (110), Myatt led all of junior college – leading the Senators to a national championship game appearance this past season.
The infielder, who was primarily the designated hitter for Walters State this season, scored 93 runs, tallied 105 hits, 20 doubles and 220 total bases across 66 games. Myatt recorded an incredible 1.014 slugging percentage and tallied a .583 on-base percentage, walking 46 times while striking out on 48 occasions.
Myatt was an unranked player by Perfect Game in the Class of 2023 out of Claiborne High School in Tazewell, Tenn. but could very well be named the JUCO National Player of the Year following his breakout season. He redshirted in 2024 at Walters State.

The slugger broke single-season records for home runs and RBI this past spring for Walters State and is set to play for the Kingsport Axman of the Appalachian League again this summer, just as he did in 2024.
He’s the fifth commitment for Tennessee in recent weeks, joining RHP Clay Edmondson of UNC Asheville (grad transfer), RHP Matt Barr of JUCO SUNY Niagara, catcher Trent Grindlinger (No. 30 overall prospect PG ’25 class) and right-handed pitcher Mason Estrada (Division II MIT).
The latter four are all draft risks. Myatt is as well as he comes in as the No. 14 JUCO draft prospect, according to Perfect Game.
