Tennessee baseball earned another commit to add to the loaded class of 2027 on __ and didn’t have to go far to do it as Heritage High School standout Gaven French made his plans official to join the Vols.

French announced his intentions to join Tennessee’s recruiting class via his social media accounts. The infielder becomes the 14th member of the class and the second commit for Josh Elander since his promotion to skipper from associate head coach.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound local talent is considered the No. 337 prospect in the country and No. 74 shortstop, according to Perfect Game. The publication also ranks him as the second-best shortstop in the state and No. 13 overall player from Tennessee.

French was on campus last weekend for his official visit and picked the Volunteers following Ovs to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Clemson and Mississippi State. Tennessee currently ranks No. 2 in the country for the 2027 class team rankings, according to Perfect Game.
