Postgame 2-Minute Drill: Vols fight back, end regular season on high note with rivalry win
NASHVILLE — Tennessee led Vanderbilt by three touchdowns at the halftime break and never looked back, capping the final game of the regular season with a 56-0 shutout win over the Commodores in Nashville as Tennessee boasts 10 wins on the campaign.
With the victory, it’s the first 10-win regular season for the Vols since 2003 and the first 10-win season overall since 2007. Tennessee has now won four-straight over its in-state foe. The Vols will now await Championship Saturday to see how that ay unfolds before learning of their postseason bowl fate – likely on New Years day.

Tennessee scored on seven possessions, racking up a total of 513 yards. Quarterback Joe Milton finished the game going 11-for-21 for 147 yards with a touchdown, in place of Hendon Hooker. The run game was on point Saturday night as Jaylen Wright torched the home team for 160 yards on just five carries, scoring twice from 50 and 83 yards away.
Maybe as impressive as the offensive showing was the Tennessee defense that responded in a major way following the embarrassment in Columbia. A week after giving up 63 points on nine touchdowns, Tim Banks’s unit slammed the door for a shutout against the Commodores. Tennessee’s defense forced seven punts, one missed field goal and four turnover on downs in the win.
