Baylor School (Tenn.) four-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson had a busy month of June with official visits to Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee completed.

Now, the four-star priority prospect is ready to announce a commitment between those three finalists on August 5th.

He spoke in-depth with On3’s Director of Recruiting, Chad Simmons, about the upcoming decision.

Tennessee hosted Jefferson on his last visit official during the weekend of June 23rd, and the four-star wide receiver had plenty of positive things to say about the Vols coming off the stay.

“Everything is in a good spot right now with Tennessee,” Jefferson told Volquest following the visit. “I have a good connection with all the coaches. Coach Pope, coach Heup (Heupel), coach Halzle they kind of walked it out for me showing me where I would play, how they would used me and stuff like that. It was a pretty good weekend.”

Being able to learn more about his football fit during the weekend was important for the four-star prospect.

“They would use me as a combo guy,” Jefferson added at the time. “They would play me inside and out. My quickness as an inside guy and being able to take the top off the defense on the outside.”

Volquest Take

Jefferson has remained a priority of Tennessee’s for months. Regardless of the in-state factor, Jefferson is a prototypical fit for what the Vols want at wide receiver in their up-tempo, vertically attacking offense. He is a load with the ball in his hands and displays an excellent burst and the ability to run after catch.

Tennessee wants to pair Jefferson with elite wideout target Mike Matthews and current four-star commitment Braylon Staley to build one of the best receiver classes in the nation. While Jefferson is currently the lowest rated prospect among the three just mentioned, look at who he is deciding between for all you need to know with this one.

This one will most likely come down to Tennessee and Alabama in the end, while Georgia remains as a dark horse. While Jefferson continues to weigh out multiple factors in his recruitment, including baseball, it will be important to watch and see if he makes any trips when things open back up for a week at the end of the month.
