Rocky Top Roundtable: UTEP

Tennessee (8-2), coming off the 31-17 loss to Georgia Saturday night, hosts UTEP (2-8) on Senior Day at Neyland Stadium Saturday (1 p.m. Eastern Time, SEC Network+). The crew from Volquest dive into the matchup in this week’s edition of the Rocky Top Roundtable.
“I think it’s the challenge for Josh Heupel and the leadership of this team,” Brent Hubbs said about generating juice this week. “You still have plenty to play for. It’s not like the path to the playoff is a 12 step path. You can still get there, you still have plenty to play for and you need to show yourself well this week. That starts with the head coach and the tone he sets this week.”
With Tennessee now on the outside, looking in, they need a really good performance this week to go along with a strong close to the season.
“It’s all about your leadership and all about your culture of your football team,” Rob Lewis said. “I’d be stunned if Tennessee doesn’t win this game regardless. I think you are going to learn a lot about the character of this team by how they show up and how to play Saturday after a really disappointing loss.”

The Vols host UTEP on Saturday (1 p.m. Eastern Time, SEC Network+) on Senior Day at Neyland Stadium, then close the regular-season schedule at Vanderbilt on November 30.
Tennessee was on the outside looking in Tuesday night. The Vols were the first team out of the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket when the selection committee released their third rankings update.
They were also the fifth SEC team in what looks like, at least for now, a race for four playoff bids.
