Tennessee Baseball remains top program in four major polls
The Tennessee baseball program remained as the top-team in the country in four of the major polls thanks to a Southeastern Conference series-sweep on the road at South Carolina this past weekend.
This comes after sweeping Florida to open conference play in mid-March and taking two of three on the road at (now) No. 8 Alabama last weekend.
The Vols (26-2, 8-1 SEC) held off the Gamecocks 11-7 behind a three-RBI day from shortstop Ariel Antigua on Friday. Tennessee won a seesaw battle on Saturday 7-5 on a Cannon Peebles two-run home run in the top of the ninth and ran away from South Carolina 7-2 on Sunday behind the 1-2 freshmen duo on the mound in Tegan Kuhns and Brayden Krenzel.
D1 Baseball, the publication this website follows for rankings, kept the Vols at No. 1 following the 4-0 week that also included a midweek 14-3 win over Queens. Arkansas, Georgia and Florida State remained at No. 2-4 while previously fifth-ranked Oregon State dropped down to No. 11 after going 2-2 on the week.
Texas moved up two spots to No. 5. Clemson stayed at No. 6. LSU gained a spot up to No. 7. Alabama moved up four spots to No. 8. Ole Miss leapfrogged from No. 15 to No. 9 and Oklahoma slid back a spot to No. 10.
An astonishing eight of the top-10 ranked teams in this week’s D1 Baseball Poll hail from the SEC with 10 (Auburn No. 16 and Vanderbilt No. 23) cracking the top-25.

Baseball America, Perfect Game and the USA TODAY Coaches Poll also continue to sport Tennessee as the No. 1 ranked program.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, who previously hadn’t updated their rankings the past three weeks, listed Tennessee as the No. 3 team in the country last Monday evening. Their updated poll has not been released yet.
Up Next: Tennessee baseball returns back home to the friendly confines of Lindsey Nelson Stadium to begin a five-game homestead with midweek rival Tennessee Tech on Tuesday at 6 PM ET. Texas A&M, who began the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country, is on the docket this weekend in Knoxville.
