Tennessee Football updated its injury report for the Mississippi State game Thursday night. The initial injury report was released Wednesday and will be updated again Friday night and 90 minutes before kickoff Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville.

Tennessee (3-1, 0-1 SEC) and Mississippi State (4-0, 0-0) on Saturday are scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. Eastern Time start on SEC Network in the first true road game of the season.

Tennessee will be without tight end Ethan Davis and defensive end Maryion Dye, who are both listed as out for Saturday and didn’t travel with the team to Starkville. Tennessee will get the services of Jaxson Moi and will have David Sanders available for the first time this season.

Offensive tackle David Sanders will dress and be available to play for the first time in his college career. Sanders has been working and waiting to regain the needed strength in his shoulder from an injury he suffered the Wednesday before the season opener against Syracuse.

It’s “a unique injury, you know, doctors are uncertain,” Heupel said during his press conference ahead of the UAB game. “That’s why he’s kind of been day to day for a while here and (it has been) uncertain.”

Tennessee will also get the services of defensive tackle Jaxson Moi, who is listed as probable. Moi has practiced all week and will be in the rotation on Saturday.

Moi suffered an upper-body injury against Syracuse and has not played since. Moi likely could have played against UAB but Tennessee chose to hold him out. Moi made a post on Instagram earlier this week that hinted that he was returning, but he quickly removed that post.

Davis missed the UAB game after dressing and going through warm ups. It was assumed he would be back this week, but his status is uncertain after getting banged up in the Georgia game even though he returned to action after the injury.

Dye played the most snaps of his career last week in the win over UAB. The freshman was listed a questionable on Wednesday’s report and was downgraded out Friday night. Fellow freshman running back Daune Morris is out Saturday as well. Morris has missed most of practice this week and was down graded from questionable to out.

Hobbs has been sidelined since suffering a foot injury late in fall camp that required surgery. The hope is that Hobbs might return for the Arkansas game in two weeks. McCoy continues to be out while coming back from the torn ACL he suffered while training in January. He made his return to the practice field late in fall camp. However, he has not returned to team periods in practice and has taken no contact both benchmarks McCoy has to hit.

Gibson, Tennessee’s starting corner opposite of McCoy, was injured in the win over Syracuse to open the season in Atlanta on August 30. Head coach Josh Heupel stated several weeks ago that Gibson would be out “an extended period” of time.

“How long,” Heupel added, “I don’t have the exact time table but he’ll be out for an extended time.”

Freshman wide receiver Radarius Jackson remains out with a collarbone injury.
