Tennessee impresses DL Darryl Rivers

McEachern defensive linemen Darryl Rivers was at Tennessee this weekend for his official visit and gave the trip high marks.
“It was fun,” Rivers said. “I met the team and all the coaching staff. I went to the facility and stadium and I just liked it. We went tubing so just spending time with the coaches and doing something I’ve not done was great.”
He spent time with the entire staff and really enjoyed getting to know Josh Heupel.
“He’s a real guy,” Rivers said. “He keeps it 100 and doesn’t put on an act for recruiting. He is real. He tells the truth.”
Rivers measured in at 6-foot-5 and near 270 pounds. He is a big kid with plenty of potential and that’s why Rodney Garner likes his game.
“They want me because I can pretty much play anything,” Rivers said. “I can move inside on 3rd down and everything. I can play end of tackle or even drop. I fit in because they play a 4-2-5.”

That part is very appealing to Rivers. He admits that getting up here and being around the program really helped Tennessee’s case this weekend.
He took official visits to Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and Rutgers before coming to Knoxville this weekend. He plans on making his decision within the next week and has a certain thing in mind.
“Just the staff and head coach and the environment,” Rivers said.
The dead period starts at midnight on Sunday and prospects won’t be able to go on campus again until September.
