Tennessee just hits ‘different’ as Daune Morris flips to Rocky Top

For the second time in November, USC commit Daune Morris was in Knoxville to checkout the home state Vols. Following his visit, he made a verbal flip to Tennessee on Monday.
“Not only just this weekend but when I came to the Kentucky home game and they had the blackout, it blew me away,” Morris said. “When fans recognize your face and everyone in the stadium is so behind their own state players. It’s a different feeling and a different experience when you can come to a home game in your own home state and everyone know your face. It’s different and it can take me a long way.”
His relationship with head coach Josh Heupel was one that he kept coming back to as he thought about wearing orange.
“Coach Heupel is a very genuine person,” Morris said. “He understands and he knows the players well. Once you get a head coach you know and understands the players, it’s hard to beat that.”
Running backs coach De’Rail Sims has slowly worked on Morris for the last few months. It was his persistence that helped show the star tailback he was wanted in Orange.

“Once I realized the trajectory of them recruiting me and how much they actually wanted me and how much a priority I actually was for them, it showed me and I changed my point of view,” Morris said.
And Sims was someone that Morris felt very comfortable with.
“Coach Sims has been recruiting me since I was a freshman,” Morris said. “One of my very first ACC offers at Louisville. He has been showing me love and has continued to show me love and that’s something I appreciate.”
Tennessee is adding an electric playmaker. Morris is super versatile and can be used in a number of different ways.
“A very versatile back,” Morris said. “Can go in the slot and it’s kind of a two way street with me. I can go to the slot and catch balls in the open field. Extended bursts after the play. That’s my way of saying a versatile back.”
