Tennessee pitcher Anson Siebert to miss fall practice following procedure

Tennessee redshirt-freshman right-handed pitcher Anson Seibert will miss the fall training session for the program after undergoing elbow surgery earlier this month. A source confirmed to Volquest that Seibert should be ready to go for the start of the 2026 season, adding the recovery timeline is around 12-16 weeks.
Mike Wilson of Knox News was first to report the news.
Seibert redshirted for the Vols as a true freshman this past spring. The righty was the No. 35 overall national recruit in the 2024 cycle, per Perfect Game, and the eighth-ranked right-handed pitcher in the class. A native of Overland Park, KS, Seibert was the top-ranked prospect from his state.
Seibert did not play summer ball the past two summers and has yet to make his collegiate debut as he underwent Tommy John surgery prior to arriving on campus as a freshman.
Veteran left-handed hurler Brandon Arvidson will be a weekend starter option for Tennessee after pulling his name out of the MLB Draft on the second day. He has top-10 round talent, but was not selected in the grouping this past summer. The southpaw really came along for the Vols late in the season. A big-time win there for Tennessee.
Left-handed prep signee Cameron Appenzeller was also passed over towards the top of the draft as his number was high. The Mariners took a flyer on him in the 19th round, but he’s coming to Knoxville to play for Tony Vitello and company and compete for innings right away.

Former Rutgers righty Landon Mack and former Virginia southpaw Evan Blanco committed to Tennessee via the transfer portal this summer and both brought tons of starting experience to Knoxville.
Mack was considered one of the best starting options available in the portal this cycle. The rookie started 15 games in 2025 as a true freshman, pitching to a 4.03 ERA over 80.1 innings with a 6-5 record. Blanco was the Friday night starter for a Virginia club who made it to Omaha in 2024. He dealt with a series of injuries as a junior that caused him to take a step back stat wise, but the lefty has still combined to start 26 of 56 games in three years with a 12-8 record, 4.17 ERA and 161 strikeouts to just 46 walks.
Right-handed hurler Tegan Kuhns projects to be back in the weekend rotation for Tennessee in 2025 after starting 10 games as a freshman and showing well in the Cape this summer. Righty Brayden Krenzel could also push for a starting role. Two-way portal addition Blaine Brown (Rice) also has some starting experience.
