Practice snapshots as Vols work indoors on day two

Tennessee was back to work Thursday morning for their second day of the acclimation period as fall camp continues.
For the Vols it’s about getting settled as competition is getting cranked up at left and right tackle, cornerback, safety and other places. Head coach Josh Heupel likes the mental approach his team has had as he continues to challenge them to bring the energy every day.
“Not just today on the field, seeing in competition and feeling it, but it’s driven guys in the summer too and that’s how they’re preparing their bodies,” Heupel said of what he’s seeing. “There is a heightened sense of competitiveness ’cause you know, there’s other guys in the building that look like and have the athletic traits that they do too.
“So we felt that all offseason, felt that today too. It was awesome yesterday, mentioned something about some of you guys (in the media) playing linebacker the first year here. You go ones, you go twos, go the next guy’s up, threes, and there’s real players at all levels right there that we certainly didn’t have early in my tenure here.”

Tennessee was forced indoors on Thursday due to rain, but it didn’t change their practice schedule as they continue to work towards contact and full pads next week.
