HOOVER, Ala. – It wasn’t the prettiest game of the season, but it was good enough for Tennessee as the Vols ran away from Texas A&M for the final score of 7-4 in Thursday’s elimination game at the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.

Tennessee (47-11) stays alive and moves on to play the loser of Thursday’s nightcap between eighth-seeded Vanderbilt and fifth-seeded Mississippi State, the contest that followed the Vols and Aggies (44-13). UT will play in the second and final game on Friday with first pitch coming at approximately 7:30 pm eastern time.

Kavares Tears recorded a 3-for-5 day with a home run and four runs driven in – pacing the Vols offensively. AJ Causey (11-3) earned the victory on the mound after tossing four innings of relief. Brock Peery (2-1) is the losing pitcher on the day while allowing one run off three walks in 1.1 innings of work.

UT will be back at the Hoover Met on Friday for the nightcap, but first, here’s how his one all went down throughout a win over Texas A&M.
