Tennessee Basketball has scheduled a home-and-home with Louisville, with the Vols starting the two-game series on the road in November. The two programs announced the series on Thursday afternoon.

The Vols will face the Cardinal on Saturday, November 9 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The second game is set for December 16, 2025 at the Food City Center in Knoxville.

Louisville won just eight games last season, finishing 8-24 before firing Kenny Payne after he went 12-52 in two seasons at the school.

Pat Kelsey, the former Winthrop and Charleston head coach, was hired at Louisville in March. He went 75-27 in three seasons at Charleston, taking the Cougars to two NCAA Tournaments. He went 186-95 in nine seasons at Winthrop, going to the NCAA Tournament twice.

Tennessee and Louisville have played 20 times dating back to 1913, but haven’t matched up on home courts since playing four games between December 2001 and January 2005. The Cardinal went 4-0 in the two home-and-homes.

The two teams last met in November 2018, when Tennessee won 92-81 in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Barclays Center in New York City. Louisville beat the Vols 79-60 in Charlotte in the Sweet 16 in March 2008.

Marquee non-conference games during the Rick Barnes Era

Marquee non-conference home-and-home games have been a staple of the Rick Barnes era at Tennessee. Dating back to 2015-16, the Vols have scheduled games with North Carolina, Gonzaga, Arizona, Illinois, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Colorado, Cincinnati and Memphis. They’ve also played charity exhibition games at Michigan State and Clemson.
