Gerald Mincey says Kentucky will 'bust (Tennessee) in the mouth' next season

Gerald Mincey didn’t like the reaction from Tennessee fans on social media after he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and committed to Kentucky. He had his own reply on social media after making the move.
“Really gave my all to Tennessee,” Mincey wrote after committing to Kentucky out of the portal, “reading all these negative comments hurts man not gonna lie played this past season with a torn MCL and was able to help my team win a bowl game with a big smile on my face because I did love being a volunteer but shid business is business.”
Mincey kept the back and forth going when he met with reporters in Lexington this week, according to the Courier Journal. He’s apparently already counting down the days until he faces Tennessee and his former teammates on November 2 at Neyland Stadium.
“I think I owe it to all the Kentucky fans to handle business on Nov. 2,” Mincey said. “So I’m excited for that.”
Gerald Mincey set to play for his third SEC East program
Mincey announced his commitment to Kentucky on January 12, joining his third SEC East program during his college career. He was originally a Kentucky commitment in 2019 before flipping to Florida. He transferred to Tennessee before the 2022 season.
He initially announced he would be returning to Tennessee in 2024 for his final season of eligibility before later entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

“I think it was time for a change,” Mincey said. “I appreciate what Tennessee allowed me to do and the two years that I did it.”
Mincey appeared in all 12 games for Tennessee during the 2023 season
Mincey started 14 times in 22 games at Tennessee over the last two seasons.
The 6-foot-7, 337-pound offensive tackle played in all 12 games this season, making six starts at right tackle. He also played left tackle while giving up just two sacks while playing 510 snaps. He started seven times in nine games at left tackle in 2022.
Mincey acknowledged what it means to change sides in the Tennessee-Kentucky rivalry.
The Vols have 84 wins in a series that dates all the way back to 1893. The Wildcats have 26, including just three since 1985.
The numbers didn’t have Mincey mincing words, though.
“Kentucky has got to do more to earn it,” Mincey said. “I’m glad. … I love the underdog (role). So when we go there Nov. 2 to Neyland and we bust them in the mouth, we can put the standard back over here.”
