LEXINGTON, Ky. — What quarterback Joey Aguilar said during his postgame press conference after throwing for 396 yards and three touchdowns, with three receivers going over 100 yards in No. 17 Tennessee’s 56-34 win over Kentucky Saturday night at Kroger Field:

How much fun it is throwing for 396 yards and three touchdowns, with three Tennessee receivers going over 100 yards 

“I had a lot of fun. Just out there dishing the wealth and everybody just making plays when the ball is in the air. So it makes my part easy.”

If he felt like he had to bounce back from his performance in the loss at Alabama

“Definitely. I think we had to bounce back as a team in general. We had a lot of mental mistakes and things that we can control from last week. So our main focus this week was to nearly be perfect. I mean, we’d never be perfect, but we could be pretty close. And we went out there, had a great week of preparation, just executed and did what we had to do and control what we could control.”

Tennessee’s 75-yard touchdown drive to close the first half, scoring with five seconds left in the second quarter

“Huge drive. To win the middle eight, go into halftime up seven more points is always a big deal. But you know Braylon, you got to feel receivers out there getting a feel, getting open space. And my job is to get them the ball and I did. And they just went out there and made plays. But going into halftime up seven more points is always a good feeling.”

How he feels after the last two road games, taking some shots at Alabama

“Body feels great. Had great preparation this week, (the) training room getting my body right, ice tub, cold tub. That’s part of the game. You’re going to get banged up a little bit. You just got to go out there and fight through it.”

Getting Tennessee tight end Ethan Davis a touchdown after he missed the last few games 

“Oh, it’s awesome, especially for him. He’s been eager, trying to get out there. He’s been fighting, trying to get healthy. And he got healthy. They played a two-high (safety look), and we just had a little seam route for Ethan. And he popped open and made a play. So I’m happy for him.”

If his touch on deep passes has always been there or if it has been better this season

“Nah, I feel like that’s something that I had just growing up in high school. But shout out to the guys going out there and making the catches.”

Getting three receivers over 100 yards, if they were aware Braylon Staley was sitting on 99 in the fourth quarter

“Not really. We’re out there just making plays. You kind of feel like it, kind of don’t when big plays pop and stuff. But towards the end, definitely, trying to get Bray to that 100 mark for sure.”
