Where Tennessee Football is ranked after the 37-20 loss at Alabama

Tennessee Football dropped six spots to No. 17 in both the Associated Press Top 25 the Coaches Poll Sunday afternoon, following the 37-20 loss to Alabama Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Joey Aguilar completed 28 of 44 passes fore 268 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Vols (5-2, 2-2 SEC) in the loss, with the interception being returned 99 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the first half, putting Alabama (6-1, 4-0) up 23-7 at halftime. 

DeSean Bishop ran 14 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns and Braylon Staley caught 10 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee’s defense gave up touchdown drives of 91 yards and 99 yards in the loss.

Up Next: Tennessee at Kentucky, Saturday, 7:45 p.m. ET, SEC Network

Tennessee will be back on the road on Saturday, going to Kentucky for a 7:45 p.m. Eastern Time start on SEC Network at Kroger Field in Lexington.

The Wildcats lost 16-13 in overtime against Texas at home Saturday night. Kentucky scored 13 points in the second half to force overtime against the Longhorns, after trailing 7-0 at halftime. 

UK quarterback Cutter Boley completed 31 of 39 passes for 258 yards and an interception and ran for 45 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Seth McGowan ran 14 times for 45 yards and caught seven passes for 68 yards. 

The Kentucky defense sacked Arch Manning three times and held him to 12 of 27 passing for 132 yards, without a touchdown or an interception. Texas ran 28 times as a team for 47 yards and a touchdown. 

Kentucky has lost three straight games and four out of the last five during its 0-4 start in SEC play. The Wildcats at Georgia and at South Carolina before the loss to Texas. The season started with a 24-16 win over Toledo, a 30-23 loss at Ole Miss, then a 48-23 win over Eastern Michigan.

Vols play three of four games at home in November

The Vols host Oklahoma on November 1, have the second bye week of the season on November 8 and host New Mexico State for homecoming on November 15. Tennessee goes to Florida on November 22 and closes the regular-season schedule against Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium on November 29.

Kickoff and TV information for the Oklahoma game will be announced on Monday. It’s currently in the SEC’s Flex window, meaning the start time will either be between 3-4 p.m. ET or 6-8 p.m. ET. 

The New Mexico State game is a 4:15 p.m. ET start on SEC Network, the Florida game is another Flex game and Vanderbilt is in the afternoon window, meaning kickoff will be between 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET.
