Where Tennessee is ranked after 31-17 loss at Georgia

Tennessee Football dropped seven spots to No. 11 in the updated Coaches Poll and three spots to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday afternoon, following Saturday night’s 31-17 loss at Georgia.
The Vols (8-2, 5-2 SEC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter at Sanford Stadium, but Georgia (8-2, 5-2) answered by outscoring Tennessee 31-7 from there.
Nico Iamaleava passed for 167 yards and Tennessee rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns, but the defense couldn’t get stops. Georgia rolled up 453 total yards and had touchdown drives of 75, 84, 57, 87 and 92.
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck completed 25 of 40 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns and ran three times for 32 yards and added another score on the ground as Tennessee’s defense gave up more than 19 points for the first time in 10 games.
Tennessee returns home to host UTEP on Senior Day on Saturday (1 p.m. Eastern Time, SEC Network) at Neyland Stadium. The Vols close the regular-season in two weeks at Vanderbilt.

Tennessee went to Georgia ranked No. 4 in the Coaches Poll, No. 6 in the AP Top 25 and No. 7 in the College Football Rankings. The Vols were seeded No. 8 in the 12-team playoff bracket update Tuesday night.

Tennessee dropped to No. 8 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll after the 19-14 loss at Arkansas on October 5, falling from No. 4 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the Coaches Poll.
The Vols had made steady climbs in both rankings after lopsided wins over Chattanooga (69-3), North Carolina State (51-10) and Kent State (71-0) and the 25-15 win at Oklahoma.
The AP Poll moved Tennessee up to No. 14 in Week 2, No. 7 in Week 3, No. 6 in Week 4 and No. 5 in Week 5. The Coaches Poll had the Vols at No. 12 in Week 2, No. 9 in Week 3, No. 7 in Week 4 and No. 6 in Week 5.
Tennessee moved up one spot to No. 4 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll the first open date of the season. The Vols started the year ranked No. 15 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25.
