Vol Club Confidential: Tennessee Punter Jackson Ross | Episode 14, Season 2

Tennessee football led the Southeastern Conference in average attendance this season, with 101,915 fans at the seven home games this season. LSU finished second in the league at 100,742.

The Vols have sold-out 14 straight home games in Knoxville, dating back to a win over Akron in September 2022. Tennessee won 14 straight home games before the loss to No. 1 Georgia on November 18.

The SEC had three programs that averaged over 100,000 fans per home game: Tennessee (101,915), LSU (100,742), Alabama (100,077). Texas A&M averaged 99,234 fans per game and Georgia averaged 92,746.

The Vols won games at home this season against Austin Peay (30-13), UTSA (45-14), South Carolina (41-20), Texas A&M (20-13), UConn (59-3) and Vanderbilt (48-24).

Vols averaged over 100,000 fans at home games over last two seasons

Last season Tennessee averaged 100,532 fans at home game, an increase of more than 14,000 fans per game from the 2021 average of 86,386. The Vols over the last five years have averaged 92,796.

Tennessee in May announced it had sold-out season tickets at Neyland Stadium — all 70,500 of them — for the 2023 season.

The initial goal set by Tennessee athletics director Danny White was to sell 61,00 season tickets in time for the 2023 season. The Vols also announced a 96 percent season-ticket renewal rate and over 9,000 new season tickets sold for the 2023 season.

It was only the second time in the last 22 seasons that season tickets have been sold out at Neyland. UT also sold its entire season-ticket inventory in August 2016.

“Vol Nation continues to show the entire nation why they are the best fan base in college sports,” White said in a Tennessee press release in May. “To be sold out of season tickets for the 2023 season is a testament to their unbridled passion and support of Tennessee Football. We can’t wait to see all our loyal fans on Rocky Top this fall!”

Tennessee’s initial goal was to go over 70,000 season tickets sold by 2026-27

‘Rise Glorious’ is Tennessee’s “comprehensive strategic plan” put in place by White and his staff to hit season-ticket goals through the 2026-27 season. Last season, the Vols sold 61,490 season tickets for Neyland Stadium. The initial goal by 2026-27 was to sell more than 70,000 season tickets.

“In an era of stadium downsizing, Vol Nation continues to send a strong message that its passion is unrivaled,” White said in April.

“We envisioned that goal by year five when we launched Rise Glorious, but Vol Nation’s unwavering support and the excitement surrounding the program allowed us to eclipse that benchmark in year one.”
