Tennessee football is tied for the fourth-highest odds to win the SEC next season. BetOnline has the Vols at 9/1 odds to win the league, behind Georgia (2/1), Texas (5/2) and Ole Miss (13/2). Alabama also has 9/1 odds.

LSU (10/1) is next, ahead of Missouri (11/1) and Texas A&M (22/1). Auburn and Oklahoma are both 50/1, Kentucky is 80/1 and South Carolina is 90/1. Florida has the fourth-lowest odds, at 100/1, ahead of only Arkansas (125/1), Mississippi State (200/1) and Vanderbilt (250/1).

The Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings released in January had Tennessee anywhere from No. 11 to No. 21 to start the offseason. 

Athlon had Tennessee the highest at No. 11 while the Sporting News had the Vols at No. 14 and On3 had Tennessee at No. 15. ESPNAction Network and Pro Football Focus all have the Vols at No. 17 and Bleacher Report has them at No. 21.

Win totals set for NC State, Tennessee’s SEC opponents

Tennessee’s win total for next season is set at 9.5, according numbers released recently by FanDuel. Georgia has the highest total of any Tennessee opponent, at 10.5, ahead of Alabama at 9.5.

North Carolina State’s is 8.5, Oklahoma’s is 7.5 and Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida are all set at 5.5. Mississippi State is 4.5 and Vanderbilt is 2.5.

Georgia finished at No. 2 in ESPN’s FPI, No. 3 in the Coaches Poll and No. 4 in the AP Top 25 last season. Alabama finished at No. 5 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll and were No. 6 in ESPN’s FPI after a 12-2 season.

Oklahoma finished at No. 15 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll after going 10-3 this season. North Carolina State finished at No. 21 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll after going 9-4.

A closer look at Tennessee’s 2024 schedule

The new season opens for Tennessee on August 31 against Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium. The Vols then go to Charlotte for a neutral-site game against N.C. State on September 7 at Bank of America Stadium in the Duke’s Mayo Classic.

The Vols return home to host Kent State on September 14 before going to Oklahoma to start SEC play on September 21, as the Sooners make their debut as an SEC team.

After a bye week on September 28, Tennessee goes back on the road in league play at Arkansas on October 5, before hosting Florida and Alabama for back-to-back home games on October 12 and October 19. 

There’s a second bye week on October 26, setting up a November schedule that includes Kentucky (November 2) and Mississippi State (November 9) at home, a road trip to Georgia (November 16), Homecoming against UTEP (November 23) and the regular-season finale at Vanderbilt (November 30).
