Tennessee Senior Deputy Athletics Director Cam Walker is leaving the University of Tennessee to become the athletics director at Utah State. Volquest has confirmed the move that was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel

Walker came to Tennessee from Central Florida with Danny White in 2021. While in Orlando, Walker was the executive associate athletic director for compliance.

Walker has seen his responsibilities grow during his time on Rocky Top. Walker played a key role in helping Tennessee navigate through the NCAA investigation for the Jeremy Pruitt era. Walker has also managed sports like basketball and currently football.

Walker has also been involved in scheduling for football as well as contracts for coaches and now revenue sharing.

Walker is the second in White’s cabinet to get an athletics directors job this year. Back in July, Georgia Tech tabbed Ryan Albert to be the athletics directors at Georgia Tech.

Prior to his tenure at UCF, Walker served as associate athletic director at Utah Valley University, where his various roles included oversight of compliance, academic performance, student-athlete development and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Walker spearheaded several department-wide enhancements, including the addition of numerous staff positions, the renovation of the Wolverine Service Center, professional development programs and the implementation of several academic progress improvement plans. Resources for those items were secured through several NCAA SSF and AASP grants, which were written, implemented and overseen by Walker.

Walker is a native of Rexburg, Idaho. Walker and his wife, Heather, have one daughter, Aleksandra, and three sons: Hudson, McCann and Jackson.
