Trail Tidbits: Tennessee set for massive recruiting weekend against Georgia

Tennessee is gearing up for a massive recruiting weekend as the Georgia Bulldogs come to town for a clash at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday inside Neyland Stadium. Ahead of the massive weekend, Volquest is joined by Rivals National Recruiting Expert, Chad Simmons, on this installment of Trail Tidbits. You can watch the full video in the player below.
Simmons Breaks Down Tennessee’s latest Flips on the Recruiting Trail
“I think if I had to say one word to describe all of these flips, I would say consistency,” Simmons said of the recent flips of Tristen Keys, Hezekiah Harris, and Kamari Blair. “I don’t think Tennessee ever changed their approach, if a kid committed a month ago like Kamari Blair, or six months or a year ago. I think they just stayed consistent and kepy building that trust and relationship and making these guys feel like a top priority and showcasing what they want to do with them.”
Simmons talks elite 2027 Tennessee RB David Gabriel Georges
Baylor School (Tenn.) running back David Gabriel Georges will return to Knoxville this weekend, and Tennessee will look to make the most out of this visit. The Vols view him as a priority, and Simmons believes they are one of the top contenders in this race.

“To me, it is a two-team race, and there are other teams involved, as you can mention Georgia and Oregon, and different schools, but to me, it starts with Tennessee, the in-state program, and Ohio State. He was there recently for the Texas game. I think those two are setting the pace right now and battling for that top spot. Depending on who you talk to, you can hear Tennessee has a slight edge or Ohio State has a slight edge. I think there is optimism in Columbus and Rocky Top about where they stand.”
Simmons talks Elite LB target, Tennessee Legacy Cooper Witten
“A little bit more guarded, and we see guys like him that come up from an NFL family, pedigree, that don’t say a ton about top schools, but we expect this one to start at Tennessee. He is playing in Texas for his father, but he knows Tennessee better than any program on his radar, whether it is talking about Clemson, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, or Oklahoma. He can pretty much go anywhere he wants to go in the country. I think his recruitment will start in the 865 in Knoxville, and I think Tennessee will be the team to beat early. He will take his trips and his visits, but the connections he has there are real. I think it is fairly early when talking favorites for him, but you have to put Tennessee in that top group.”
