Trust with Josh Heupel leads Legend Bey to wear orange

On his official visit to Tennessee two weeks ago, Legend Bey committed to the staff. Then he took an official visit to Texas A&M and some wondered if the pull from the home state Aggies would win out. He never wavered and chose the Vols on Saturday.
“Coach Heup and him being an offensive head coach,” Bey said about what put the Vols over the top. “I feel like if he had a coach leave and be brought in a new one they would have to follow his rules and run what he wants to run. I trust coach Heup and what he has going on.
“Me and coach (Kelsey) Pope and I have been building a relationship since about December last year,” Bey said. “Also with coach Heup building a relationship during that same time. Building a relationship before they even offered me.”
He has learned that Tennessee is a special spot.
“I feel like they are very consistent in winning,” Bey said. “The culture bringing in new recruits and just the consistency.”
He visited the same weekend as Faizon Brandon and Tristen Keys. He has really gotten to know Brandon through messenger and over the phone the last several months.
“Faizon is a cool dude,” Bey said. “We built a relationship before we ever got to that visit by talking for the last three or four months. I say he is a cool guy and super nonchalant and just chill.”
He plays quarterback and a number of different positions at the high school level. He feels like he brings versatility and an ability to make things happen.

“They say I fit into offense everywhere,” Bey said. “They really want me as a slot. Come in and play inside and out, throw it to me in the backfield and everything.”
He has world class speed and is what caught the eye of Pope and the rest of the offensive staff. He credits his mom for that attribute.
With that history of playing a little quarterback, he is pushing for that wide receiver pass play. Maybe it’s a throw back to Brandon or maybe even a guy like Tristen Keys.
“Might be throwing it to Tristen Keys,” Bey said with a smile. “We have to see if he is going to flip that commitment.”
