Vol Club Confidential: Omari Thomas & Bryson Eason

The strength of Tennessee’s talented defense starts with the depth and talent on the defensive line. Veterans Omari Thomas and Bryson Eason joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to talk about their time at Tennessee.
“I’m just trying to be in the moment,” Thomas said about the final stretch of his career. “I’m just trying to be where my feet are every day and enjoy the season and enjoy everything we have to look forward to afterwards. That way when it does end I’m able to cherish all those memories.”
Eason technically could return for another year on Rocky Top but he isn’t even thinking in those terms. He is just having fun.
“Just take day by day and week by week,” Eason said. “Enjoy spending time with your teammates because you hear a lot of talk about what the next level could be like. You build some real bonds with the guys in the locker room so just cherish it and enjoy it because we have a mission we want to complete and take it day by day.”
The bond of playing for a university is something that both hear about from former players who are now in the business of professional football.

“People I talk to talk about the business of it,” Thomas said of the NFL. “They have families whereas here in college we are all hanging out together so it’s definitely different. Everyone always tells us that you will always remember the bonds from college. We just push to build those memories.”
Thomas and Eason were two of five Memphis kids to sign with Tennessee in 2020. They are also the last two still on campus.
“Those are all our guys,” Thomas said. “M Town boys. We are all cool and we enjoyed everybody being here when we were all here. We have great memories and they are doing their own thing. Bryson and I are still here but for those guys to come in with us from Memphis, that’s not something that happens a lot from the same area and city that have known each other since we were young.”
