Tennessee has been working on Buford defensive lineman Dre Quinn well before he committed to Clemson. The persistence paid off on Saturday when he decided to give Rocky Top a look.

“I just wanted to come over and give Tennessee a chance,” Quinn said. “I already been over here last year and the atmosphere was crazy and a great game. Going against Georgia, I knew this was going to be a crazy game down to the wire and experience. I just wanted to come over and talk to Tennessee.”

One of the key figures in the chase for the Tigers commit has been Levorn Harbin and coach Chop has made a big impression on him.

“He came into a position coaching great (players) and you saw it tonight sack after sack,” Quinn said. “Then he is working with coach Garner so it’s a lot of experience coaching them up, preparing them for the league and that’s what I like to see.”

Quinn is still committed to Clemson but the Tigers don’t normally like when their commits take visits as this is very rare. He could see himself taking a visit down the line potentially and there are some reasons Tennessee has caught his eye.

“First it’s SEC ball and not to far from home,” Quinn said. “Tennessee has always been a contender in my recruitment. I’m close with coach Chop and coach Garner and coach Banks and coach Heupel.”

Quinn made the decision to come visit a couple of weeks back and things were kept under wraps until he made it to town.

“Just looking at other defensive schemes and stuff,” Quinn said. “Looking at how they play. I like how Tennessee runs their defense.”

Tennessee still has an official visit with Quinn that could come later if things continue to progress in this one.
