The call: USC athletic director Mike Bohn will soon face the facts that finding the next head coach is getting a bit more competitive by the week. As the 2021 college football season heads into its second half, there will be more job openings, and more competition amongst universities to fill their head coaching needs. The call – Part 2: For Mike Bohn, he will soon no longer have the luxury to corner the coaching market. Coaches like Penn State’s James Franklin, Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell, and Iowa State’s Matt Campbell may have more destination options than just USC. For the record, these USC potential targets currently reside in locations such as Happy Valley (PA), Cincinnati (OH), and Ames (IA). It could mean for coaches Franklin, Fickell, and Campbell, they may elect to remain in the general section of the country in which they currently reside.
