USC defensive back Latrell McCutchin has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Matt Zenitz.

McCutchin saw time in all 14 games last season, including two late-season starts against UCLA and Tulane. He finished the season with 22 tackles, including one sack. McCutchin also had a forced fumble in the Pac-12 Championship Game against Utah and recovered a fumble against the Bruins.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back arrived at USC from Oklahoma via the transfer portal during the 2022 offseason. He was one of three former Sooners to make the move to USC with head coach Lincoln Riley. Wide receiver Mario Williams was the first to announce, followed by McCutchin. Quarterback Caleb Williams was the third.

McCutchin played everywhere in the secondary during his first spring practice with USC. He ultimately settled in at nickelback and played there in a rotation with Max Williams and Jaylin Smith. Williams also played some safety and Smith was injured for the final stretch of the season. That opened time for McCutchin last season.

McCutchin was a four-star prospect and the No. 267 overall recruit in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

USC Departures in the 2023 Transfer Portal

McCutchin is the 19th USC Trojan to enter the 2023 transfer portal.

Of those, 12 have announced commitments to or enrolled in other programs.

The Trojans will face off against a few of those players in 2023. Wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. is at Oregon. Linebacker Ralen Goforth went to Washington. Offensive lineman Jason Rodriguez and wide receiver John Jackson III are at Nevada. And safety Briton Allen is at Utah.
