College football has seen its share of quick turnarounds in recent history. Even at USC, it took Pete Carroll just two seasons to bring a 5-7 Trojans team in 2000 to celebrating around the Orange Bowl Trophy with a No. 4 national ranking in 2002. Lincoln Riley's goal is to do something similar in just one year, no matter how big the rebuild project appears to be. At every significant press event since taking over as head coach, Riley has been asked some form of the question: "How long will it take to contend for a conference championship?" It came again on Tuesday, following USC's first day of spring practice. And again, Riley's answer can be taken as that being a realistic goal for the Trojans in 2022.
