The Obvious: All you need to know about Friday night’s Pac-12 Conference Game in the Coliseum (6:30 p.m. PT) is that the No. 8 USC Trojans (6-1 Pac-12, 8-1 overall) host a Colorado team that beat the Cal Bears, 20-13, in overtime for their only win of the season, and then realize that the Bears gave the Trojans all they could handle last Saturday night in the Coli before succumbing 41-35. The Not So Obvious: Look, Colorado is a bad team, and there is plenty of evidence to support the blunt statement. Their record (1-5 Pac-12, 1-8 overall) shows it, their stats on both sides of the ball are nightmares, and their former head coach Karl Dorrell was fired after five games. They have lost their last three games in a row under interim head coach Mike Sanford, and they’re just trying to play out the season before hiring yet another new Buffaloes coach. The Trojans know a little bit about “interim” head coaches the past decade. However, the point is that USC really struggled with Cal and Colorado beat the Bears on Oct. 15 in Boulder. It would be shocking to see the Trojans sleepwalk through this game, especially after last week’s stinker against Cal.
