The Obvious: The O/NSO doesn’t know about you, but recruiting has evolved or morphed into an avalanche of information, some of it timely, some of it interesting, and some of it just plain overkill. The Not So Obvious: WeAreSC.com does a great job covering recruiting under the guidance of our recruiting Dalai Lama, Scott Schrader, and his new addition, Marshall Levenson, who knows Texas like the back of his hand. No question, they have their ears to the recruiting ground and pour out to our subscribers what they know. That being said, one of the recruiting areas that has caught the O/NSO's attention is those major recruiting announcements regarding “making the cut.” In other words, a recruit decides to "trim" his list of 15, 20, or 30 schools to a final 10 lottery holders. I guess it's fun and exciting to see if Johnny Recruit lists your favorite school among his favs, but you can realistically probably just chop it down to five universities or less and let's get on with it. Nobody is happier seeing a recruit cut his list to five schools that includes USC than Trojans' head coach Lincoln Riley.
