The Obvious: In a matter of hours, the Trojans will learn if they’ll be finding a place for another Heisman Trophy inside Heritage Hall, and if the pre-polling is accurate, Caleb Williams will not only be in New York City for the ceremony but is expected to be USC’s eighth Heisman Trophy winner, the most of any college football program in America. The Not So Obvious: On Thursday night on ESPN, the roadmap for Caleb Williams's journey to the Heisman Trophy was revealed, as it was announced that No. 13 had not only won the Maxwell College Football Player of the Year Award but the Walter Camp College Football Player of the Year, as well. Next up comes Saturday night from the Lincoln Center in Manhattan (5 p.m. PT on ESPN), and it would be beyond a major shock if Caleb isn’t at the podium accepting the Heisman Trophy. Looking ahead towards the 2023 season, you can expect to see a huge USC No. 13 home jersey being proudly displayed in the peristyle end of the Coliseum, joining six other Heisman winning Trojans jerseys.
