The Obvious: Having been born and raised in the Los Angeles suburbs, there is one thing that the O/NSO has learned in our seven decades-plus when it comes to sports in the City of Angels, which also includes storied USC football. NO AREA of the country loves, worships, and respects our greatest sports superstars any more than those that have caused the country to universally chant, “Beat L.A.!” The Not So Obvious: As if you needed a sports refresher course, L.A. has produced, traded for, or free agent-signed names that echo throughout our streets and communities not to mention the nation, walking hand-in-hand alongside the glitz and glamour of nearby Hollywood. In the Los Angeles area, a true sports fan can get an equal thrill driving by Dodgers Stadium, So-Fi Stadium, the Rose Bowl, and the legendary Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as they can as a tourist cruising by Universal Studies, MGM, Paramount, and FOX Sudios. Whether it’s professional or college, L.A. is awash with legendary or near-legendary sports figures.
