WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at Reggie Bush being named to the College Football Hall of Fame, Utah quarterback Cameron Rising announcing that he will return next year, and the 2023 season officially beginning.

Reggie to the Hall of Fame

On Monday, the College Football Hall of Fame revealed its Class of 2023. One of the headliners of the class was none other than former USC star running back Reggie Bush.

One of the most decorated running backs in college football history, Bush won two national championships while playing for the Trojans, as well as the 2005 Heisman Trophy. However, the NCAA and the Heisman Trust infamously stripped Bush of the award in 2010 due to allegations that he received improper benefits from an agent while still in college. Despite the fact that college athletes receiving endorsement deals is now widely accepted and common practice, the Heisman Trust has stubbornly refused to return Bushโ€™s trophy.

Rising to Return

Yesterday, Utah quarterback Cameron Rising announced that he will return to school for his sixth and final season of eligibility.

Rising is the first quarterback to beat USC three times in a row since Brett Hundley of UCLA did so from 2012-2014. Next season, he will look to make it four straight when the Utes visit the Coliseum.

2023 Officially Begins

Last night, Georgia defeated TCU 65-7 to win their second consecutive national championship.

Right as the clock at So Fi Stadium hit zero, USC posted a hype video with the caption, โ€œWeโ€™re just getting started.โ€

The message is clear: the 2022 season is now over, and the 2023 season has officially begun.

The Trojans kick off their 2023 campaign against San Jose State at the Coliseum in exactly 228 days.
