Arkansas punter Max Fletcher has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

The Aussie enters the portal following two seasons with the Razorbacks, reopening up recruitment ahead of the 2024 following the Razorbacks’ spring game last Saturday.

Fletcher had a standout season last year for Arkansas, earning All-SEC Second-Team honors after leading the conference with 2,770 punting yards and averaging 46.9 yards per punt. Kicking 19 of his 59 punt attempts inside the 20-yard line highlighted by two games with four punts inside the 20 this past season.

In his true freshman season Fletcher punted in nine games, punting 38 times for an average of 37.5 yards. All in all boasting a 34.5% rate of punts inside the 20-yard line in his 97 punts for the Razorbacks with 4,194 yards of punt yardage under his belt as he looks to join a new program.

Arkansas punter Devin Bale is expected to take over the reigns at punter for Arkansas following a strong spring practice. Replacing the 6-foot-5, 174-pound fletcher who entered the 2023 season as a member of the Ray Guy Award Watch List.

Fletcher was a three-star recruit out of the punting organization Prokick Australia, ranked the No. 4 punter in the 2022 recruiting class according to On3’s Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Earlier this week, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman revealed his attitude toward the transfer portal’s spring window.

“We don’t want to lose any of our players,” Pittman said. “And I had to talk with our team and I said, ‘Hey, we just don’t lose anybody that we have and don’t add anybody, we’re gonna have us a fine football team. So the number one thing is I don’t want to lose anybody.”

“We’re going to. I mean, I hope not but we could. I don’t know why you’d want to leave this team. This is a good football team, but I understand the landscape of football.”

Fletcher represents the 30th Arkansas player to enter the transfer portal this offseason, adding 13 players through the transfer portal as well. Given their gains and losses through the portal, the Razorbacks rank No. 30 on On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings with an Index Score of 8.
