One of the best shooters in the ACC decided to announce his plans to hit the portal on Friday afternoon. Boston College guard Claudell Harris plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to a report from Jeff Borzello of ESPN. He averaged 13.7 points and shot 37% from three-point range this year. He began his career at Charleston State, and he will sign with YM APAA Sports as his representative agency.

In 2022-2023, Harris averaged 33.3% from deep at Charleston Southern and he bumped that average up a bit this year. A pretty solid all-around player, he averaged 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists this year for Boston College. Harris is just one of the latest Eagles to enter the transfer portal. Jaeden Zackery entered the portal on April 4th.

In Boston College’s 76-55 victory over Clemson in the second round of the ACC Tournament, Harris erupted for 27 points, drilling five of his 16 three-point attempts. He was also 10 of 22 from the field in that one and grabbed five rebounds, propelling his team to the big-time win in Washington, D.C. Harris also connected on four of 11 three-pointers against Virginia in their 66-60 OT loss to the Cavaliers in the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals. Mason Madsen drilled a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime in that game.

A highly explosive scorer at times, Harris had five games this year where he poured in more than 20 or more points. He exploded for a season-high 29 points in an 85-69 win over Lehigh.

Boston College had a bit of an up-and-down year, finishing 8-12 overall in the ACC, but finishing with a 20-16 overall record. They made it to the second round of NIT, where they fell to UNLV 79-70. Big man Quinten Post dropped 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss. In their 62-57 win over Providence in the first round of the NIT, Claudell Harris poured in 17 points, leading the team.

In high school, he starred for Hahnville High School (Louisiana). As a senior, he averaged nearly 21 points per game, earning first team All-State honors in 2021 from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. An explosive three-point shooter dating back to his high school days, Harris connected on 11 shots from beyond-the-arc in a single game. He also helped steer Hahnville to the Class 5A state semifinals as a junior and senior.
