A running back prospect out of the Mid-American Conference entered the transfer portal on Wednesday evening. Buffalo running back Michael Washington officially entered his name into the portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He’s racked up 1,119 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns for his career thus far.

On Wednesday evening on his Twitter page, Washington received a scholarship offer from the Bowling Green Falcons.

His best season came in 2022, when he racked up 625 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on just 150 carries. As a receiver, he hauled in 23 catches for 135 yards and one touchdown. The Bulls finished 3-9 overall this year, including fourth in the MAC East Division. In 2022, the Bulls finished with a 7-6 overall record, including a 23-21 win over Georgia Southern in the Camellia Bowl. He had 88 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown this year against Louisiana Lafayette, his best game of the season. Washington finished 2023 with 362 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Buffalo will have some tough out of conference opponents in their 2024 slate. They’ll have to travel to Missouri to face off against the Missouri Tigers, a top-10 program this past season. In 2026, the Bulls also travel to Penn State and in 2027, they travel to Ohio State. Buffalo has had some very talented players come through their pipeline in their program’s history.

Former Bulls running back Jaret Patterson exploded onto the national stage in 2020, after he rushed for over 400 yards in one game and tied the national record with touchdowns in a game (8). One of the most celebrated players in program history was former Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack, who brought home MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and first team All-American honors in 2013.

Mack was the fifth overall pick for the Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL Draft, becoming the highest draft pick in school history by a large margin. Mack was inducted into the Buffalo Bulls’ Athletics Hall of Fame and he’s enjoyed a dominant career in the National Football League–eight Pro Bowl appearances and bringing home NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2016.

As a prospect coming out of Cicero-North Syracuse, he was rated as a three-star recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Washington was also rated as the No. 2,041 overall player in the country and a No. 144 running back, too. Coming out of high school, he had offers from Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Army, and the UMass Minutemen. He also had offers from Albany and Central Connecticut State.
