Colorado Buffaloes offensive lineman Jack Wilty has entered the Transfer Portal. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Wilty does so after playing in 11 games during the 2023 season. He also started in the season opening win over TCU for the Buffaloes. In 146 pass attempts that he blocked for, Wilty did not allow a single sack on the season.

Prior to coming to Colorado, Wilty initially went to Northern Illinois in 2020 where he did not play before transferring to Iowa Central Community College for two seasons. In 2022, he was named to the 2022 ICCAC Football All-Conference first-team.

Colorado and the Transfer Portal

When Deion Sanders first came to Colorado ahead of the 2023 season, he made it clear that he was going to flip the roster through the Transfer Portal. He then proceeded to live up to his words, with 56 Colorado players leaving and another 50 coming into the program through the Transfer Portal during that cycle. Jack Wilty was one of those players coming in.

This offseason, after a year of figuring out the team’s strengths and weaknesses, Sanders has once again heavily used the Transfer Portal. To this point, 17 players have left Colorado through the portal while 22 have come to Colorado through the portal. That includes five linemen who are leaving the program and six linemen who have joined the program through the portal.

Offensive line play was a massive issue for Colorado during the 2023 season. The Buffaloes were 132nd out of 133 teams in sacks allowed last season, giving up 4.67 sacks per game. Colorado was also 133rd in rushing offense, only gaining 68.92 yards per game on the ground.

Overall, according to the On3 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings, Colorado’s 2024 transfer class is second in the country. Only Louisville has a higher ranked class. At this point, it’s also likely that Colorado is going to add to its current class of transfers.
