DePaul guard Dramane Camara has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Camara spent just one season with the program and after a coaching change taking place, he wants to explore his options moving forward.

You can watch the tournament live on Prime Video, add on your favorite channels and watch at home or on your phone and laptop at work!

Camara is originally from Paris and played high school basketball at the NBA Academy Africa, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 124 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The stats were not the best for Camara this season, only appearing in 10 games. None of them were starting and his longest run out there came against Marquette in February for six minutes.

Camara scored a total of six points on the season. Add in two rebounds and two assists and there was not much production to show for as a true freshman.

Several other schools were in on Camara coming out of high school. San Jose State, UT Chattanooga, and Xavier were all interested before the guard eventually committed to DePaul. Now in the transfer portal, the opportunity to reconnect with those programs is there for Camara.

Roster turnover is going to happen at DePaul, as is true about any coaching change. Camara is the latest example on Wednesday afternoon by entering the NCAA transfer portal.

DePaul hoping for better success under Chris Holtmann

One of the first jobs to open this coaching carousel was DePaul. Tony Stubblefield got off to a 3-15 start this season and was fired in the middle of his third season in charge. The Blue Demons have been struggling for a long time and felt like a change was needed.

Insert Chris Holtmann, who was also fired mid-season from Ohio State. Holtmann began to tail off in Columbus but has experience coaching at a power conference level and having some success. He’s made the NCAA Tournament four times and won three games.

If Holtmann can get anywhere near close to that, he would be a modern legend for DePaul. The program’s last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2004 as a member of Conference USA. Since making the switch over to the Big East, 17 of the 19 seasons have been losing ones.
