Transfer Portal News of the Day December 15

Tennessee safety Doneiko Slaughter has committed to Arkansas, he announced Friday afternoon on social media.

Slaughter racked up 87 total tackles over his four-year career at Tennessee with 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception and seven passes defended. He was hampered by a foot injury most of the 2023 season, causing him to miss two games altogether and to be limited in others. He finished his final season at Tennessee with 32 tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack – appearing in 10 games.

With a final year of eligibility remaining due to COVID-19, he’s staying in the SEC and transferring to Arkansas.

A former three-star safety coming out of Rosewell, Georgia, Slaughter has grown into his role as a defensive back for the Vols. He could play any position in the secondary, which is why he started his career at safety.

“Expressing my gratitude for the tremendous support, development and love I’ve experienced during my time at the University of Tennessee,” the cornerback wrote in a letter to Tennessee fans. “The relationships I’ve built with my brothers and staff have been invaluable, contributing significantly to my growth as both an athlete and individual. The support from Vol Nation has made this university feel like a home.”
