Florida State transfer RB Rodney Hill commits to Miami Hurricanes

Former Florida State running back Rodney Hill has found a new home in the transfer portal. On Saturday afternoon, he committed to the Miami Hurricanes and announced the move on his Twitter page.

During his two years with the Seminoles, Hill had 77 carries for 334 rushing yards and two touchdowns. According to CaneSport.com’s Matt Shodell, Hill will be a preferred walk-on for the Hurricanes.

When he entered the portal, he posted a goodbye message to the people at Florida State.

“I wanna thank my coaches and FSU for bringing me in,Much love to all my teammates and to the strength staff and trainers that have worked with me while I been here but I will be entering the transfer portal,” Hill wrote on his Twitter profile.

The past two seasons for the Seminoles, Hill has gained 334 rushing yards and punched in two touchdowns in limited action. In 2022, he appeared in just four games, rushing for 144 yards on 27 attempts. This past season, he finished with the third most touches of the FSU running backs, rushing for 190 yards on 50 carries. Punching it into the end zone one time.

Hill also had 83 receiving yards on five catches, too.

During his freshman year in 2022, Mike Norvell circled Hill as a player who could make a splash for the Seminoles.

“Yeah, Rodney’s an explosive player. You know, I’m excited about his future. He’s gotta continue to work on some of the details of what he needs to do and that’s part of it as a freshman. But you know, he’s gonna put himself in a position if he continues to develop like he is and [he’ll have] an opportunity to be able to impact this team,” Norvell said.

As a high school prospect, Hill played his high school football for Bulloch Academy (Statesboro, Georgia). He was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 506 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2022 cycle.

His senior season for Bulloch Academy, Hill had 38 rushes for 344 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 9.1 yards per carry. He also snagged 12 balls for 152 receiving yards and one touchdown. During his final two seasons of high school football, he racked up 1,242 all-purpose yards. A dynamic athlete, the 5-foot-10, 186-pounder also played wide receiver, running back, and defensive back for Bulloch. Hill also ran track and played basketball for them, too.
