North Carolina transfer running back George Pettaway commits to James Madison
After entering the NCAA transfer portal, former North Carolina running back George Pettaway has committed to James Madison.
Pettaway joins the Dukes following two seasons at Chapel Hill. As a true freshman with the Tar Heels he made 11 game appearances, rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Pettaway also added five receptions for 21 yards and seven kickoff returns for 221 yards to his stat line during true freshman season as well.
He redshirted in the 2023 season after appearing in four games for North Carolina, giving him three seasons of eligibility as he joins James Madison.
Pettaway played high school football at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk (VA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 132 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
