Georgia Tech kicker Gavin Stewart has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Stewart enters the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with one year old eligibility remaining, also adding wide receiver to his position according to his bio on Twitter.

In his four seasons with the Yellow Jackets, Stewart alternated between starting kicker and kickoff specialist duties, appearing in eight games as a true freshman where he became Georgia Tech’s primary place kicker. Making 22-of-24 extra-point attempts and 2-of-3 field goal attempts.

In 2021 he was Georgia Tech’s kickoff specialist throughout the season with 55 kickoffs and just one field goal attempt on the season, a 51-yarder that was blocked in the team’s season opener against Northern Illinois. On the year, 33 of his kickoffs were touchbacks and just 12 were returned, as his role would increase dramatically in the following season.

Stewart emerged as one of the top kickers in college football in 2022, setting a single-season program record and ranking 10th in the nation with a .923 field-goal percentage on year. Making 12 of his 13 field goal attempts on the season after taking over in the fifth game of the season versus Pitt, where he went 4-for-4 on field goals during a rainstorm. Also handling kickoff duties on 40 occasions with 22 touchbacks on the year.

Last season Stewart’s role took a step back with just three field goal attempts on the season, which were all misses. He remained as Georgia Tech’s kickoff specialist with 40 touchbacks in his 62 kickoff tries, also making all eight of his extra point attempts on the season.

Stewart played high school football at Benedictine Military Academy in Savannah (GA) where he was an unrated, unranked recruit in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. At Benedictine, Stewart also played wide receiver and safety along with kicker. Making all nine of his nine field goal attempts with a 47-yard long field goal and 55-of-55 extra points in his senior season.

“I am deeply thankful to everyone who has supported me throughout my time at Georgia Tech,” Stewart wrote in the conclusion of his transfer announcement. “Your guidance has been instrumental in shaping not only my career but also my character. Although I am moving forward, I will always carry the spirit of being a Tech Man with me.”
