Stanford transfer Kanaan Carlyle is heading to the Big Ten. Carlyle has committed to Indiana, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

The addition of Carlyle is a huge pick up for Indiana coach Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers. The Atlanta native Carlyle appeared in 23 games this past season, making 16 starts for the Cardinal.

Kanaan Carlyle averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Carlyle is a former top-50 recruit in the class of 2023. He was ranked as the No. 50 overall player in the country, the No. 5 combo guard in the country and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia coming out of high school.

He is joining an Indiana team that finished 19-14 (10-10) in Year 3 under Woodson last season.

Kanaan Carlyle earned several honors for his play during his one season at Stanford, including All-Pac-12 Freshman Team Honorable Mention.

He also received plenty of awards following a great performance in a win over No. 4 Arizona in December. He put up 28 points against the Wildcats and was named AP National Player of the Week, Dick Vitale Diaper Dandy of the Week and Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.

A couple of weeks later, Carlyle scored a career high 31 points against Washington State, breaking the Stanford record for points by a freshman in a game.

He will look to continue to have success in the Big Ten while playing for the Hoosiers.

Stanford center Maxime Raynaud announces he’s withdrawing from transfer portal

While Kanaan Carlyle is heading elsewhere, Stanford did receive some good news on Friday.

Star center Maxime Raynaud has announced that he is withdrawing from the transfer portal and will instead continue to play for the Cardinal.

Raynaud was ranked as the top player in the transfer portal, according to the On3 transfer portal rankings.

He averaged 15.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 2023-24.

“I’ve had time to reflect since the season ended, and I’ve come to the realization that there is no better place for me to continue my basketball journey than here at Stanford,” Maxime Raynaud posted in a statement on Twitter.

“I am excited to play for Kyle Smith, to earn my degree from Stanford, and to lead this team on the farm. I’M BACK!”

Stanford is coming off of a 14-18 season in 2023-24. The Cardinal hired Kyle Smith as head coach this offseason, bringing him over from Washington State.

Stanford is set to compete in the ACC in 2024-25, which will be its first season in the conference.
