Shortly after their loss to the Oregon Ducks in the Fiesta Bowl, the Liberty Flames suffered another loss, only this time to the transfer portal. On Tuesday, Flames star quarterback Kaidon Salter revealed to On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Salter was the driving force behind Liberty’s 13-1 season. The sophomore quarterback led the Flame to an undefeated regular season C-USA championship and the aforementioned New Year’s 6 Fiesta Bowl showdown against Oregon. Unfortunately, Salter could not lead Liberty to a victory on their biggest stage of the season as they fell 45-6 to Oregon and the Ducks’ star quarterback, Bo Nix. Salter finished the 2023 season, completing 177-290 of his past attempts for 2876 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He also added another 1089 yards rushing on 163 attempts and 12 rushing touchdowns on the year.

Salter played high school football at Cedar Hill High in Cedar Hill, TX, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 146 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
