Louisville running back Kaden Moorman has entered his name into the transfer portal.

Moorman, a Frankfort, Kentucky native, was originally committed to Kentucky out of high school. However, he decommitted from the Wildcats and ended up signing with the Cardinals for his freshman year this past fall.

In total, Moorman had five total carries for 38 yards for the Louisville offense in 2023.

Moorman played high school football at Franklin County. He was a three-star prospect there and the No. 1,199 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 56 ATH in the class and the No. 12 player out of the state.

Moorman came to Louisville as part of the first class for Jeff Brohm with the program.

Now, Moorman is one of the several players who have left the Cardinals in the offseason, including the ones just since the opening of the spring portal window. In total, 23 players have left Louisville in the transfer portal so far this offseason. Multiple have entered just this month with the spring cycle open.

In turn, though, the Cardinals have landed several transfers in the portal. They currently sit at No. 1 atop On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings with 26 pickups. That includes significant transfers that rank well in On3’s 2024 College Football Transfer Portal Top Players.

Moorman has been a part of both major, in-state programs already in the past year. He will now be looking for a third with his entry into the portal this afternoon.

Louisville RB Peny Boone plans to re-enter transfer portal

Louisville running back Peny Boone plans to re-enter the transfer portal, he tells On3.

The former Toledo running back entered the portal this past winter and transferred to the Cardinals. Roughly three months later, the 6-foot-1, 242-pound back is going back into college football’s free agency.

The 2023 MAC Offensive Player of the Year rushed for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also tallying 219 yards receiving and a touchdown catch in 2023. Boone is a former Maryland transfer, though his college production really took off at Toledo.

In four years in college, Boone has recorded 2,101 yards and 20 touchdowns rushing, as well as 326 yards and one touchdown receiving. Because of his productivity, Boone is likely to get several looks from more high-profile programs.

He initially picked the Cardinals over Florida State and Kentucky.

Before enrolling at Maryland, Boone was a four-star prospect and the No. 380 overall recruit in the 2020 class according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the No. 37 running back in his class and the No. 10 overall player in the state of Michigan, hailing from Detroit (MI) Martin Luther King.
