NC State linebacker Patrick Turner, who began his career at Navy, has entered the transfer portal and will look for yet another new home, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Turner spent the 2023 and 2022 seasons as a member of the Wolfpack after redshirting his only season at Navy back in 2021. He is originally a Texas native and three-star recruit per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was rated the No. 1,686 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class, as well as the No. 186 linebacker and No. 258 player out of Texas.

Patrick Turner never saw the field for Navy, nor did he appear in any games during his first season with the Wolfpack, according to the NC State athletics website, which provides zero stats for that season or this past year in 2023. For all we know, Turner has never appeared in a live snap yet as a college football player.

All in all, even despite Turner’s exit, the transfer portal has has been quite favorable for Dave Doeren and the NC State Wolfpack so far this offseason following the team’s 9-4 finish last fall.

NC State has had north of 20 players enter the transfer portal with 12 players committing to play for the Wolfpack from the transfer portal. Given what NC State has lost and gained, the Wolfpack rank at an impressive No. 5 on On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings with an Index Score of 38.

The Wolfpack lost quarterback Brennan Armstrong to the NFL Draft and hair apparent MJ Morris to the transfer portal, committing to Miami following the season. But they did add former Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall through the transfer portal, who threw for 10,005 yards and 88 touchdowns in his five years with the Chants. Where he was also the only player to earn Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year honors three times.

NC State also added exciting offensive weapons like former Ohio State wide receiver Noah Rogers, former Connecticut tight end Justin Joly, and former Duke running back Jordan Waters. Who each rank within the top 100 of On3’s 2024 College Football Transfer Portal Top Players list.
