North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Trimble is in the portal after spending two seasons with the Tar Heels. He averaged 5.2 points per game in 2023-24, while helping UNC earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Wisconsin native was ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 42 overall player in the country coming out of high school by the On3 Industry rankings.

As a freshman, Seth Trimble averaged 1.8 points and 0.6 assists per game while appearing in all 33 games.

Trimble improved those numbers this past season, appearing in 35 games, with one start. He averaged 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor and nearly 42 percent from 3-point range.

He helped the Tar Heels to a 29-8 record in 2023-24, before they lost to Alabama in the Sweet 16.

Seth Trimble made a post on Instagram about his decision to enter the transfer portal. It reads:

“I want to give thanks to my Lord for guiding me every day, allowing me to grow. To the fans of North Carolina, I sit with tears of joy, thankful for the blessings and memories this university has given me. It’s been a fun ride here, and the support and opportunities I’ve been given from this family have blessed me more than I can express gratitude for. I’m thankful for each and every one of you who believed in a kid from Menomonee Falls.

Thank you to coach Davis and the rest of the coaching/supporting staff for putting their trust and belief in me every day. Thank you to my teammates for being who y’all are and lifting me up every day to succeed. The relationships and memories I have experienced at this university will forever have a special place in my heart.

I’ve made the decision to enter the transfer portal as I feel this is the best step for me moving forward. Tar Heel family, I will love you for the rest of my life.”

It will be interesting to see where Seth Trimble ends up next. Head coach Hubert Davis had this to say about Trimble when he signed with UNC:

“Seth is the fastest point guard in the country with the ball. He’s the most athletic point guard, combo guard in the country. As good as he is, his ceiling is ridiculous. He’s the best on-the-ball defender I saw as we evaluated the class of 2022. Seth can pick up full court and create havoc on the defensive end and with his athleticism and speed he is almost impossible to stop at driving the ball into the paint. He is a true point guard in that he loves to get people involved.”
