The Akron Zips are hosting two basketball prospects from the NCAA Transfer Portal this weekend. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, North Carolina transfer James Okonkwo and West Virginia transfer Seth Wilson are visiting the Zips campus this weekend.

The transfer portal across college basketball figures to be quite active this weekend, with plenty of teams across the country hosting potential prospects that can fill their rosters for the upcoming season. So, the Zips will see if they can do their best to land the two prospects from North Carolina and West Virginia.

Okonkwo logged just 2.9 minutes per game for the ‘Heels. He finished the year averaging one point and one rebound per outing. The former Tar Heel stands at 6-foot-8, 240 pounds. Wilson logged 17 minutes per game for the Mountaineers this year, averaging 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds. One of his best games this year came against the Drexel Dragons, when he scored 11 points and dished out five assists in a 66-60 win on December 9th. Wilson also managed to score double digits against Monmouth and Missouri State.

West Virginia had a rough season this year, finishing 9-23 and 4-14 in the Big 12 Conference. One of their biggest wins of the season came against the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks. The Mountaineers upset them 91-85 on January 20th. Seth Wilson scored nine points in 15 minutes in the big win. WVU got double digits from three different players (RaeQuan Battle, Patrick Suemnick, and Kerr Kriisa).

North Carolina won the ACC Regular Season Championship this year, but lost in the ACC Tournament Championship to the N.C. State Wolfpack, 84-76. RJ Davis scored 30 points in that game and Armando Bacot had 12 rebounds.

Bacot was one of the most productive players in North Carolina basketball history. He is moving on elsewhere to play professionally, wherever that ends up being. He shattered several school records during his time with the Tar Heels, and helped guide them to a Sweet 16 appearance in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, North Carolina whipped Wagner 90-62. In the Round of 32, they defeated Michigan State 85-69. Then in the Sweet 16, the ‘Heels lost in a classic to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 89-87. Fittingly enough, Armando Bacot had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, finishing his career with yet another double-double.
