Toledo transfer running back Peny Boone is gearing up for a major weekend on the road.

The Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year announced his plans to enter the transfer portal last week. A former Maryland transfer, the decision to leave Toledo comes after NCAA guidance released to schools last week allows fall multi-time transfers to play immediately in 2024-25 without securing a waiver.

He’s narrowed down his list of schools to Florida StateKentucky and Louisville, too. Now he’s hitting the road. A source tells On3 that Boone is expected to visit the Cardinals on Friday. Nothing official is on the books yet, but Florida State is pushing hard for the running back to make a stop in Tallahassee this weekend.

The running back ranks seventh nationally with 1,400 total rushing yards and 7.2 yards per carry. His 15 rushing touchdowns are in the top 10, plus Peny Boone tallied eight 100-plus yard games. He’s ranked as the No. 25 overall player in the portal, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings.
