Pittsburgh tight end Karter Johnson has entered the transfer portal. He has spent the past two seasons at Pittsburgh and was at Butler (Kan.) Community College for two years before joining the Panthers. He initially began his career at TCU, but left after one season. He did not make any appearances for the Horned Frogs.

In the 2023 campaign, Johnson appeared in 11 games and made four starts. The 6-foot-2, 255-pound TE compiled 12 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 14.6 yards per catch. Johnson posted career-highs against Duke, notching six catches for 55 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown.

In 2022, Johnson reeled in six receptions for 89 yards. He made two starts that season. When Johnson exited high school, he was highly-touted defensive end. However, during his two-year stint at Butler Community College, he converted to a tight end.

In his two years with BCC, Johnson amassed 22 catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns in 13 total games. With his COVID year, Johnson will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Karter Johnson played high school football at Pickerington Central (Ohio), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 354 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is the 12th player to enter the transfer portal from Pitt. The program currently sits at No. 25 in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings. While football season just ended, Las Vegas is already speculating where Pitt will stack up in the ACC next season.
